CW COVID-19 Compliance Protocols

Updated on 06.20.21

Orange Unified School District’s (OUSD) follows the COVID-19 safety protocols of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the State of California and the County of Orange. This means that the OUSD’s protocol also applies to us in using the facility of Yorba Middle School. We are aware that the CDC is continuing to change its requirements but since we are on their school property, we will follow the current OUSD’s COVID-19 safety protocols.

The purpose of this page is to list out all the COVID-19 compliance protocols which were agreed upon among CW staff & HG leaders for outdoor services. However, the following are safety rules to follow and be diligently adhered to by everyone in attendance.

  1. Wellness Check:
    • Each member (including his/her children) must perform wellness checks PRIOR TO ARRIVAL (NO Temperature checks will be administered at the entrance). We ask anyone who has any of the following symptoms or situations to STAY HOME:
      • Temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher
      • Cough
      • Sore throat
      • Congestion or runny nose
      • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
      • Diarrhea or vomiting
      • New onset of severe headache
      • New loss of taste or smell
      • Exposure of 15 minutes or more to someone who’s been diagnosed with COVID-19.
      • 10 days after traveling to another state or country, if you are not fully vaccinated.
    • Visitors must complete a wellness screening questionnaire form prior to allowing them to enter.
  1. Face Coverings:
    • Beginning on 7/18/21, face mask is OPTIONAL—you may keep it on or keep it off.
    • However, CW Kids will be wearing a mask during their Sunday school classes for extra caution.)
  1. Physical Distancing:
    • Everyone must maintain reasonable physical distance from one another except within their own family or same household unit.
    • The stage will be set at least 12 feet away from the nearest congregant.
    • Everyone must continually enforce physical distancing between members that are not within the same family unit (with tactfulness and gentleness).
    • Worship attenders can mingle prior to and after service as long as they maintain physical distancing.
    • Elementary school aged kids and younger must be supervised by their parents except during Sunday school class time with their respective CW Kids teacher.
  1. Hygiene and Sanitation:
    • Practice BYLC (Bring Your Lawn Chair): Each member will bring their own chairs (hence, no need to sanitize these chairs); however, a handful of chairs will be available for any visitors who didn’t bring one. The visitor chairs will be sanitized before and after worship service.
    • To minimize or eliminate handling of shared equipment, each worship-band member will have their own microphone that they are expected to take home and sanitize after each Sunday.
    • Hand sanitizers will be stationed at the entrance welcome table, in the restrooms, next to the stage and at the 2 sanitation stations (with a tissue box and extra disposable masks).
    • No hard-copy bulletins will be passed out during the outdoor services to minimize any unnecessary physical contact; instead, all bulletin announcements, worship song lyrics, and sermon outlines will be on e-file (PDF) which will be available via QR code and emailed to members (crosswayoc@googlegroups.com).
    • Encourage members to wash hands or use hand sanitizer when handling shared equipment especially after setup and breakdown.
    • Individually packaged food is allowed but must not be shared with others and be at a safe distance from others outside your family unit when consuming the food.
  1. Identification and Contact Tracing:
    • Volunteers from the Welcome Team will be taking attendance of all members including children and visitors.
    • Everyone in attendance will be notified if a member/visitor tests positive within 3-4 days of the Sunday service.
  1. CW Kids Protocol (Sunday School Classes from toddlers to 5th graders):
    • CW Kids Staff/Team will practice these guidelines first as well as gently enforce them with the kids.
    • Each table/class will be sanitized.
      • Tables will be covered with disposable table cloths.
      • Benches will be wiped for dirt/dust then disinfected with Lysol spray.
    • Each class/table will have sanitation supplies set-up:
      • Hand sanitizer
      • Lysol spray
      • Disinfecting Clorox Wipes
      • Extra Masks for children & adults
    • Masking tape will be placed on the benches to mark where students will sit.
      • Students will sit staggered (not directly across from each other as tables aren’t 6 ft. wide) to maintain physical distance.
    • The K/1 class will have the same set-up OR be set-up on the ground/grass with personal rugs placed 6 ft. apart. This may require an EZ-up if a shaded area is not available.
    • Set-up 5G for Live Zoom for online option.
    • In transitioning from worship with adults to sitting with their class:
      • Kids will be dismissed by the moderator to line-up behind their teacher, maintaining six feet distance from each other.
      • OR a parent can walk their child to tables to maintain distance.
    • During Classes:
      • Each child will have their hands sanitized.
      • They’ll remain seated with masks on correctly.
      • Each child will use their own workbook, Bible, & crayons
      • No food or drinks will be provided by CW Kids.
      • Kids can bring personal water bottles. Kids can step away from the table to drink.
      • Parents will be texted for their child’s bathroom needs.
      • Each child will sanitize hands before leaving.
